Luminos: Life, interactive

Our Products

Upright ultra wide-field microscope system

Luminos' upright microscope is optimized for imaging complex tissues and in vivo.  The top-down view can image acute brain slices, zebrafish embryos, and rodent brain activity in head-fixed behaving animals.  The system includes integration with virtual reality and other behavioral protocols.

Technical specifications

Inverted ultra wide-field microscope system

Luminos' inverted microscope is optimized for imaging cell cultures.  The automated stage accommodates multi-well plates or single-well dishes.  The system has full environmental control, autofocus, and capability for long-term or iterated acquisitions.

Technical specifications

Instrument control software

The Luminos instrument control software provides seamless integration of imaging, patterned illumination, and all other experimental parameters.

  • The Luminos software is freely available for non-commercial use.

  • Subscriptions are available for technical support.

  • Licensing options are available for commercial use.

Light-responsive biological materials

Luminos can provide:

  • Transgenic mice, genetically engineered to express either a voltage indicator or a combination of voltage indicator and spectrally orthogonal optogenetic actuator.  All mice are available with either Cre dependence, Flp dependence, or intersectional Cre- and Flp dependence.

  • Human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) lines genetically engineered to co-express a channelrhodopsin and a voltage indicator.

  • Optopatch HEK cell lines genetically engineered to express a channelrhodopsin, a voltage indicator, and various ion channels.

  • AAV vectors for rodent expression of Optopatch and other light-responsive actuators and reporters.

Light-responsive chemicals

Luminos can provide:

  • Photochemical tools for light-directed click chemistry, with either violet or near-IR activation;

  • Photochemical crosslinkers to control cell adhesion to a dish.
